2008 Young Generation Forum in Daejeon, Korea

2008 Young Generation Forum (YGF) Announcement

The 2008 Young Generation Forum (YGF) organized by KOFST will take place in Daejeon, Korea from July 14-19, 2008. The YGF 2008 will bring 80 young generation Korean-heritage students/professionals from all over the world including U.S., Canada, German, Japan, etc. as well as 40 young generation Koreans. All 1.5 and 2nd generations, who major in Science, Technology and Engineering, are encouraged to apply for this special event in Korea. This is a rare opportunity to meet young generation scientist and technology leaders from all over the world as well as sharing research ideas and experiencing Korean culture together. Additionally, the invited YG members will be fully reimbursed for their roundtrip airfares, lodging and meals while attending the forum.

The primary goals of the KOFST 2008 Young Generation Forum are to promote young Korean scientists, engineers and specialists (1) to contribute to the advancement in contemporary science and technology, (2) to understand the current scientific and technological development in Korea, and (3) to establish cooperative networking that will encourage them to collaborate with foreign counterparts in the future.

The detail description of the eligibility requirements, the tentative program and the application submission instruction is explained in the attached announcement in this e-mail. The deadline for application submission is March 1, 2008. We strongly encourage you to join this great program so please start the application process as soon as possible.

한국과학기술단체총연합회에서는 2008년 7월 14일(월)부터 19일(토)까지 미국을 비롯한 일본, 독일, 캐나다 등지의 해외동포 청년과학도 80명과 한국의 청년과학기술자 40명 등 총 120명이 참가한 가운데 한국에서 “2008 Young Generation Forum”을 개최할 계획입니다. 이 Young Generation Forum(이하 YG Forum)은 국내외 청년과학기술자들이 미래 첨단과학기술분야의 비전에 대한 상호의견 교환 및 내외동포 전문가들간에 네트워킹 협력체계 구축을 통하여 21세기 지식기반사회를 선도하는 Global Leader 로서의 자질 함양은 물론 민족 유대감을 높일 목적으로 본 연합회가 2002년도 부터 매해 개최하고 있습니다.

◇ 참가자격
 참가자격 : 1974년 이후 출생한 과학기술관련 전공 학부 3학년 이상, 박사 후 과정까지의 재학생으로서 영어로 의사소통이 가능한 자
 참가대상 : 120명
해외 참가자 : 80명
- 대상 : 유학생을 제외한 대상 국가의 시민권 및 영주권을 소지한 1.5세대 이후 해외동포 청년 과학기술자.
국내 참가자 : 40명
- 대상 : 국내 학생

* 참가대상은 해당국의 시민권이나 영주권을 소지한 1.5세대 이후 한인동포로, 1974년 이후 출생한 과학기술관련 전공 학부 3학년 이상 ~ 박사 후 과정까지의 재학생에 한하며 영어로 의사소통이 가능해야 합니다. 유학생은 참가 자격이 없는 점 유의하시고(여권 사본, 항공권 사본, 항공권 구입 영수증과 더불어 한국 여권 소지 영주권자의 경우 추후 항공료 지급 시 해당국 green card 등 permanent residence 증빙 자료 제출 요망) 또한 지난 2002 ~ 2007년도 YG Forum에 이미 참가한 학생은 참가 자격이 제한됌.

◇ 지원내용
해외 참가자 : 왕복항공료 일부 및 5박 6일간의 숙식비 일체
국내 참가자 : 5박 6일간의 숙식비 일체

*참가비는 없으며, 5박6일간의 항공료 일부 및 체재비는 본 연합회에서 부담하게 됩니다. (항공권은 Economy Class로 출발지에서 인천공항까지 최단 거리를 이용 하여야 하며, 항공료는 과총에서 정한 지급기준 한도내에서 실제로 구입한 영수증 금액을 지급)
